General Advice:
This class in general is pretty relaxed but is a great way to start building your art portfolio. This might be your first introduction to a higher-level art class, so don't get too overwhelmed with some of the concepts or projects. Firstly, try to use your class time wisely, the projects are often quite big and may take some time, so try to space out a little bit of time per day to work on the piece. Take this class as an opportunity to explore your creativity, and don't be afraid of trying new things. We all have a hard time as artists in developing ideas that are new and original, but always try to use your surroundings or mind to come up with something that you like instead of following others. This is also going to give you an opportunity to play around with new material, so do your best in exploring and trying new types of material to draw with, this ability to experiment will benefit you going forward. Overall, relax, try to do your best, and don't be afraid to experiment and break outside your comfort zone. Good Luck!
