AP Class Taken: AP Computer Science Principles
Year Taken: 2018-2019
Material Advice: Barron's AP Computer Science Principles, 5 Steps to a 5 AP Computer Science Principles, Scratch, Java
General Advice: AP Computer Science Principles is an introductory computer science course that explores basic coding and computing for coding beginners. If you are not familiar with coding, you will be starting from basic programming languages like Scratch to more advanced ones like Java and Python. The class is mostly self-paced, but I really recommend working on your Create Performance Task (part of your AP exam) as early as possible, as developing your own computer program could take some time. To prepare for the multiple choice portion of the test, I recommend test prep books such as Barron's or 5 Steps. They have practice multiple choice tests on the back that help you prepare for your exam. Overall, the class itself is pretty manageable as long as you finish your tasks on time and stay focused! Good luck! :)
