Year Taken: 2018-2019
Material Advice:
-5 Steps to a 5 AP* Computer Science Principles - Julie Sway
General Advice:
This class is mostly self-paced, so it's important to stay on top of your work so you don't stay behind. Make sure you are understanding the key concepts, and if you're a beginner at coding, I highly suggest taking whatever notes you take in class and study them at home. While a lot of the class is centered around applying concepts to coding assignments, it'll be much harder if you don't understand the concepts behind the practice. For your create performance task(part of the AP exam), I would recommend getting a head start and staying consistent with the amount of work you put into it per week since aspects of this task can take a while and it's easy to fall behind. Prior to the AP exam, I suggest using 5 Steps to a 5 AP* Computer Science Principles as practice, it has plenty of notes about key concepts helpful to memorize for the exam and plenty of practice material to make sure you know the concepts. As long as you manage your time wisely and do your best to understand the material, you will do well in the class and on the test. Good luck!
