Year Taken: 2019-2020
Material Advice:
-If possible, I suggest using the course syllabus and reading some of the novels over the summer
General Advice:
Advanced English can be a difficult course, but do not let the work load or exams frighten you. A lot of the class is based on the reading and analysis, so if that seems to be a weakness for you I would suggest using class time well when discussing the reading, doing your own research, or even talking to the teacher before and after timed writings to see where you can improve on. Try and stay on track when reading, I know it can be easy to fall behind but it'll improve your understanding more if you try to read a little everyday and leave notes as you read. Timed writings can be difficult, but don't let a few bad grades discourage you, as you go on throughout the year your ability to analyze and write will improve, and never be afraid to reach out to the teacher when you feel like you need help. Overall, if you stay focused, try and improve day by day, and keep track of your work and time, you should do just fine. Good Luck!
