Material Advice: Any practice multiple choices, any of reading books assigned in class, any online source such as SparkNotes
General Advice: This class is a definitely a step up from English I. There are more timed writings and AP multiple choices. Therefore, it is always beneficial to develop your reading comprehension skills, especially by reading difficult passages. This can help you on the APMCS, and another thing that can help with this is vocabulary. You can search up AP English Language and Composition vocabulary and look through any Quizlets that pop up. In addition, you should have a strong skill in analysis, as this class does a lot analysis. If you need to, get a tutor to help you with analysis, because most of the timed writings in this class are open-ended and focus on specific themes. Therefore, it is important to have those analysis skills to help you score higher on the timed writings. Most of these timed writings are over the reading books assigned in class, so it is crucial to keep up with the reading schedule and have a good understanding of the book to do well. Also, take annotations with your analysis, so you can delve deeper into the book; you can show these annotations to your teacher and get feedback before the your timed writing too. Lastly, try going to tutorials to look at every graded assignment, especially the APMCs and timed writings, so you can have a better idea for next time. If you can keep up with the work given, you won't be struggling.
